Setting off from La Lécherette, this walk looks down over the Hongrin valley and takes you to the Hongrin dam before coming back to La Lécherette, all the while sticking very close by to the lake. This trail takes in some spectacular views but most of the walking is done on the road.
Departure point is from the centre of La Lécherette. Set out from behind the building which houses the grocery shop passing by it on its left. Follow the road that goes in front of the chapel for 10 minutes which then brings you out at the « Sonlomont » road. Follow it keeping to the left. This road gently climbs until you get to the « Mossettes » junction at 1570m. Continue straight on until the Sonlomont Pass at 1503m. From the pass, take the Neusille direction following the « main » road until you reach the café of the same name.
Make the most of a rest stop by checking out the animal park which brings farm animals together with more exotic species, the latter in a vivarium. Get back on track by taking the path which goes downhill to the left and which rejoins the road to the Hongrin dam. To get closer to the dam, take a right (10 minutes).
You can easily make a return trip to the dam by adding an extra 20 minutes to your planned itinerary. Then retrace your steps but instead of climbing back up to Neusille, continue along the road until you get to 1312m. Get off this road and take the path which takes you down to the river mouth at the lake. The trail then climbs again up to the military road which you need to take as far as La Lécherette.
Option 1: Possibility to walk up the Buvette de Monts Chevreuils and Back.
Option 2: A short cut is possible by getting on to the Hongrin road using the path which goes downhill through pastures at the height of the Sonlomont Pass. (This optional route doesn’t go by the dam). In this case, count an hour less.
