In the heart of the countryside, high above the village of Les Mosses, the Small Lakes region is a peaceful haven and also a great place for swimming. As a rest stop during the climb to the top of Pic Chaussy or as a destination in itself, the banks of the mountain lakes are a source for revitalization, relaxation, peace and tranquillity.
A delightful area, accessible only on foot, the Small Lakes region sits at the halfway point between Col des Mosses and the summit of Pic Chaussy. Three small stretches of clear water created by the melting snows form the trio of « By the Lakes » or more commonly known as « The Small Lakes ».
The nearby rocky outcrops are home to numerous wild animals. Listen out for the whistling marmots and the clopping hooves of the ibex. With a little bit of luck and patience, you will have the privilege of observing them in their natural habitat.
To eat, this corner of the wild mountain also has a refreshment bar that welcomes hikers. A shepherd couple succeeds Grillon and offers a local or organic country cuisine with a wood fire.
