In a renovated and enlarged building, visitors will be able to discover more than sixty works by the precursors of the art of paper-cutting from this summer in Château-d'Oex. Numerous activities will also be offered to keep this ancient Vaud tradition alive.
A Swiss centre of paper cutting is due to open at Château-d'Oex in the summer of 2022. For a century, the Musée du Vieux Pays-d’Enhaut has borne witness to the daily life of the region’s inhabitants. Among the objects on display in Château-d’Oex, visitors can discover more than sixty works by the pioneers of the art of paper cutting, one of the living traditions of the canton of Vaud. Extensive refurbishment and expansion work is currently under way, including the construction of a new annex to house the collections of the Swiss Paper Cutting Association, which are currently housed in Blankenburg in the Saanenland region of canton Bern. The collections consist of 600 works and a library of 800 books about the art. A series of events including temporary exhibitions, demonstrations and lectures is planned at the museum to help keep this tradition alive.
