The terraced vineyards of Lavaux are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. All levels and types of cyclist: set off to discover Lavaux with this tour that can also include a detour to Mont Pèlerin.
Starting from Lutry, you are quickly into the vineyards with the Petite Corniche route, which takes you through the wine villages of Villette and Grandvaux. Like the vines, enjoy the three suns of Lavaux that make the wines here so special: the sun from the sky, the sun’s reflection off of the lake, and finally the sun’s heat stored in the walls forming the thousands of terraces of Lavaux.
A short descent leads you to Riex and the famous Corniche, a classic among cyclists in the region which was also used by the Tour de France when it passed through the canton in July 2022. Enjoy views of Lake Geneva and the French Alps as you make your way through a thousand-year-old terraced vineyard.
Shortly after Chexbres, you can opt to ride to the summit of Mont Pèlerin. The road is steep, with sections at over 12%, but the view of the lake is magnificent. Once back on the loop, you go around the mountain via quiet roads in the forest and the countryside.
On the way back, you find yourself back in the vineyards as you plunge into Grandvaux before returning to Lutry.
