Free of charge, Festival Images is both an authentic open-air museum and a high-quality platform for Swiss and international artists. It gained instant renown and recognition due to the monumental photographs displayed in Vevey. It runs a competition with a prize awarded to the winner – the Grand Prix International de Photographie de Vevey.
The first open-air photography festival in Switzerland, Festival Images is held every two years, from mid-September to the beginning of October. This free festival gained instant renown and recognition due to the monumental photographs displayed in the streets of Vevey. With exhibitions organised in a number of different venues, the festival showcases contemporary photography, particularly the works in the running for the Grand Prix international de photographie de Vevey. At each competition, one of the best supported in Europe, the organisers receive submissions from over 800 professionals.
To promote the works of the entrants for the Vevey international photography award and create a link between two festivals, the organisers of the event set up an exhibition platform at the station: the Espace Quai1.
