At the highest spot of the Lavaux UNESCO vineyards, with a view over Lake Geneva, Chexbres has some of the most beautiful scenery in Switzerland. Easily accessible by car or rail with the “Train des Vignes” (vine train), Chexbres has an entire network of marked trails right up to the lake. Some say that travellers who arrive by train throw their return ticket out of the window when they discover the idyllic landscape.
As the path continues, wine producers open their cellar and their bottles. First you’ll see the chasselas, the emblematic grape variety, which produce dry white wines with a pleasing minerality. The Lavaux-panoramic train takes tourists through the villages of Chardonne, Rivaz and St-Saphorin, riding along paths with amazing panoramic views.
To complete the day, Chexbres hotels and restaurants welcome food lovers to their panoramic terraces to feast on the lake's perch fillets, as well as other specialities, with of course a glass of top quality wine!
