The “Cheese Train” takes its passengers aboard in Montreux in first-class compartments. During the train ride, they will be able to taste Swiss cheeses, and receive a wineglass as a souvenir
Once the train leaves the lake of Geneva it crosses various types of landscapes typical for the region. Among other highlights, it passes by the largest Swiss chalet which used to belong to the painter Balthus, in Rossinière. This impressive wooden building features beautifully decorated facades. The trip continues to Château-d’Œx and the restaurant Le Chalet where a demonstration of traditional cheese production on a wood fire is given by a cheese maker in traditional costume. Later, the program suggests a visit of the “Musée du Vieux-pays-d’Enhaut” which is dedicated to Swiss popular art and shows historic furnishings, traditional objects, and an exhibition of the famous paper cuttings.
