"Cave du Tonnelier"

In Vallamand, a pretty village in the Vaudois Vully, the Matthey family offers a wine cellar and a charming museum dedicated to cooperage, the main activity of four generations of Mattheys. Today, the fifth generation of the family focuses on the vinification of a wide range of quality wines.

At the "Cave du Tonnelier", Pascal Matthey makes wine and markets no fewer than 9 varieties of wine. Out of the 16 wines available to taste, the Vully Blanc and the Pinot Noir won the Terravin gold label - which rewards the best Vaudois wines - while the dry sparkling wine has been awarded a silver medal at the "Sélection des vins vaudois" (The Vaudois Wine Selection).

After Roger Matthey, his son, Pascal, took over, representing the 5th generation of the Matthey House. When the company was set up, Henri Matthey was a cooper. This knowledge was carried on by Pascal's grand father and father who ran the last cooper shop in French-speaking Switzerland. Today, the activity has stopped but its heritage is still alive in the small wine and cooper museum that was opened by the family. Groups can visit the museum on request, before a tasting of the wines of the Cellar, accompanied by succulent Vully cakes.
