The two slabs of the Dar are newly equipped with some lovely single-pitch routes. Most of the routes are very easy, so they are very suitable for learning. The excellent quality rock is rough and striated with grooves and other karstic forms.
This new crag has some lovely approachable, well-protected single-pitch routes, some of which are very short, so good for leading or "on-sight" learning. Situated above the Vallée des Ormonts, near the Col du Pillon, the slabs run along Le Dar mountain stream above the waterfall. The slab consists of excellent rough rock striated with grooves and karstic forms.
Easy to get to from the Col du Pillon: On foot, head for the Pillon alpine chalet and follow the Prés Jordan path, which is more or less flat. A minute after crossing the footbridge over the stream, descend to the right. Follow the yellow markers for 2 minutes and you'll be at the foot of the right slab. A 30-minute walk.
