First of its kind in Switzerland and inspired by the Medoc Marathon, this event wants to be both sporting and festive. Along the way a dozen or so stands manned by the winegrowers and restaurant owners from the region offer their wines and specialities to the participants.
The annual event that takes place in September attracts long-distance runners (several distances, including those for children), walkers and Nordic walkers. The route wends its way through the vineyards and villages of the Côtes de l’Orbe with magnificent views of the plain, the Jura and the Alps.
At the finish the convivial atmosphere encountered along the route continues, thanks to fifteen or so stands that offer local produce. Participants are invited to dress up and a souvenir prize is offered for each category.
Starting from Arnex-sur-Orbe the route continues over concrete paths or earthen ground through the vineyards and passes through Orbe, Rances, Valeyres-sous-Rances, Montcherand and Agiez.
There are many places to stay overnight in the Yverdon-les-Bains region.
