Starting from the Kuklos revolving restaurant, the Renewable Energy Trail combines a pleasant walk with a learning experience for young and old alike. Easy to get to via the Berneuse ski lifts from the centre of Leysin, the trail is also a chance to enjoy some stunning views of the Vaudois Alps.
This trail is an opportunity for everyone to learn about and observe first-hand these sources of energies which are so important to our future. There are 11 information posts along the way which, amongst other things, allow visitors to compare the difference between normal bulbs and eco bulbs, using a system with nine bulbs, and see how wind power is harvested with a small vertical axis wind turbine. Another example is the revolving restaurant which is partly powered by solar energy.
The educational elements of this walk are continually being added to, so walkers learn something new every time. To enhance the visit, a quiz can be downloaded from the internet and a system of QR codes provides additional information on smartphone or tablet.
