Christmas markets in the Vaud Region
Switzerland is one of those European countries where winter goes hand in hand with Christmas markets. Bright decorations, stalls with spicy fragrances as well as traditional songs enhance the major cities and tourist destinations of the canton of Vaud for nearly two months before Christmas.
Advent is a festive period in the larger towns of Vaud. Coloured Christmas trees, bright decorations and especially the Christmas markets get inhabitants and visitors into a festive mood.
Montreux Noël, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Switzerland, sets up 160 stalls in chalets on the shores of Lake Geneva. In addition, it organises many fun activities in Montreux, Chillon Castle and on Rochers-de-Naye (2,042 m). Bô Noël, a new Christmas market, confers a touch of magic to the streets of Lausanne: fun activities and stalls by designers, artisans and local producers.
