Opening hours
During a normal week, the offices (administration, banks, insurances…) are open from Monday to Friday, and the shops from Monday to Saturday. Small businesses and shops tend to be closed on Monday, just like most restaurants and museums.
Large department stores and specialty shops are open Monday to Friday from 8.00 or 8.30 to 18.30 or 19.00, on Saturday until 17.00 or 18.00. On Sunday, shops are closed, except some bakeries, grocery stores or small shops in tourist areas as well as in railway stations.
Most banks are open from Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 12.00 and from 13.30 to 17.00. However, a few main bank offices open non-stop from 9.00 to 17.00 and the banks located in the shopping centres are also open on Saturday and, in principle, apply the schedules of the shopping centre.
Restaurants are usually open until midnight, but most of the time, food is served from 11.30 to 14.00 and from 18.30 or 19.00 to 22.30. Restaurants are usually closed one day a week, often on Monday.
The counters of the main railway stations are open Monday to Friday from 7.00 to 19.00 or 19.30, on Saturday and Sunday from 7.00 or 8.00 to 17.00 or 18.00.
