Halfway between the larger towns of Lausanne and Nyon, Morges is a medieval town that is appreciated by inhabitants and tourists alike. Known for its castle, which plays host to several museums, and its Tulip Festival, Morges has always attracted famous guests such as actress Audrey Hepburn. In all simplicity, the heroine of “My Fair Lady” liked to visit the shopkeepers of the town, who remember all of her illustrious appearances. The best Swiss cheeses, gourmet chocolates and lake fish were enjoyed by Miss Hepburn and continue to delight gourmets in the charming pedestrian streets of Morges.
To accompany the culinary specialities, the wines of Morges with the La Côte designation of origin (AOC) are always on the menu. The winegrowing villages above the town remain a favourite excursion destination that can be enhanced with the visit of a wine cellar.
