The Eclépens Castle is one of the oldest winemaking domains of Switzerland.
Welcome to Château d'Eclépens!
The Eclépens Castle is one of the oldest winemaking domains of Switzerland. In a diploma given to Charlemagne's son in Lausanne in 814, one finds out that the emperor had vineyards there. The Caslte vineyard is located between Eclépens and La Sarraz under the Roman road that links both villages. It stands at the foot of the Mormont hill, which overlooks the Orbe plain.
This south-facing location, gives the vineyard a temperate and sheltered microclimate. The flora around the vineyard is almost mediterranean. The vines are planted on a south-facing hillside and are protected from the wind, in well-drained and medium to heavy soil. This soil is ideal for the culture of vine.
The domain only uses biological methods for its work. In the respect of tradition, grapes are harvested by hand so that they stay intact as long as possible before being pressed. As for the pressing and the wine making, they take place at the Castle, as is the bottling.
With the tasting bundle, you will enjoy a tasting of 4 vintages from the domain along with homemade appetizers while you learn about the place and its history.
