This year, the theme of the Avenches Tattoo military band festival is "United Colours of Music", referring to the many colours of music, diversity and cultural wealth. See you in the Avenches arena from 1 to 3 September 2022.
The international festival of military bands returns to the majestic setting of the Roman arena in Avenches, the former capital of Roman Helvetia, near Lake Morat. The second most important event of its kind in Switzerland, it brings together some 500 musicians, military and civilian, from all over Europe. On the programme for this 2022 edition: the troop of the Royal Guard of Spain with a prestigious group of almost 100 musicians, the Artillery Band of Lyon with a highly varied musical and visual show, the Scottish Massed Pipes & Drums with some 60 British musicians led in particular by Chris Armstrong, a world reference in the field of bagpipes. On the Swiss side, the Swiss Army Big Band will represent military music. The Cent pour Cent troupe of the 2019 Fête des Vignerons in Vevey will be present for the grand finale.
This year, instead of a guest of honour, a theme has been defined as the common thread of the programme: United Colours of Music, referring to the many colours of music, to its diversity and cultural richness, but also to the unifying aspect of music in the current international context.
