Sporty cyclists: You will be pleasantly surprised by this loop that takes you to the Vallée de Joux on roads away from the traffic. An alternative to the traditional Marchairuz and Mollendruz passes.
Starting from the train station in l'Isle, you will ride along the foot of the Jura for about 30 kilometers while admiring the majestic view of the Alps. This is an ideal warm-up before the main challenge on this loop which is aimed at sporty cyclists: an 8 km climb to the Combe des Amburnex, a bucolic alternative to the Col du Marchairuz. At the top, you will discover the famous dry stone walls emblematic of the Jura ridgeline.
As a reward, you will traverse the peaceful Vallée de Joux and enjoy a welcome break on a terrace by the lake. After the bridge, a short ascent takes you to the Mollendruz pass, but you turn left before reaching the top towards Vaulion. This road with moderate traffic brings you back to your starting point, after about 100 km. Well done!
It is also possible to ride this loop from the Vallée de Joux and Bière, both which can easily be reached by train.
