This prestigious athletics meeting will take place on 30 June 2023 at the Pontaise Stadium in Lausanne. No less than 250 international athletes and 13,000 spectators will be present. Sixteen disciplines are on the programme. An event not to be missed under any circumstances.
A total of sixteen disciplines will form part of the Athletissima programme for its next edition on 30 June 2023. These will include the women’s 100 metres, men’s 200 metres, men’s 1500 metres, women’s 3000 metres, high jump, shot put, javelin and pole vault. The meeting was held for the first time on 8 July 1977 at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Lausanne, at the instigation of the former 800 metre runner Jacky Delapierre. Today, it is a major event in world athletics, and has taken up residence at the Pontaise Stadium in the north of Lausanne. Since 2010 it has been part of the Wanda Diamond League circuit, which brings together the world’s most prestigious meetings. Around 13,000 spectators gather each year to witness the outstanding achievements of some 250 international athletes.
Athletissima is considered to be the most important sporting event in French-speaking Switzerland by SwissTopSport, the association that unites 20 of the biggest sporting events held each year in Switzerland, which are among the best in the world.
