Bringing together fine arts, contemporary art and photography in one unique artistic space, the Lausanne Museum Centre project is now under way (scheduled to open in 2019).
With this arts district located near the station and aptly named “Platform 10”, Lausanne will have the location it needs to accommodate the rich array of its museum offering. Two foundations, Toms Pauli (tapestries and textiles) and Félix Vallotton (a homage to the Franco-Swiss painter who died in 1925), will also have a dedicated space.
The Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts (mcb-a – fine arts) will exhibit regional and international works, in a philosophy of openness for everything and everyone. The Musée de l’Elysée will showcase the constantly changing world of photography. The Musée de design et d’arts appliqués contemporains (mudac – contemporary design and applied arts) will offer its eclectic vision of the many disciplines of artistic creation. There will also be a library, documentation centre and several restaurants on the site.
